Dobson's Statement

Hewitt just finished his interview with Dr. James Dobson, a man many of use revere and respect greatly. Among a host of great things, he stated--

"John McCain is just not a conservative....he might be a republican, but just barely". He also told Hugh that he "knew" a week ago that he had to make this statement.

I have jus one question for Dr. Dobson...what took you so long to make this statement? If you make this statement one week ago, when you "knew" you had to, we dont' have this situation today.  Romney would have benefitted greatly by having this statement made right after Florida. We love ya doc, but you missed the boat, and it is likely too late!

Post Tuesday Delegate Predictions...

Okey dokey...done my late night analysis, and although I failed most of my math classes, here goes....

After all the voting and caucusing and counting and punditry on February 5th, I predict...

McCain....676 delegates
Romney....459 delegates
Huckabee...221 delegates
Paul....33 delegates
Can you say..."brokered convention"? Sure ya can!

There you have it. Care to weigh in? Tell me what you think...but as long as I've got your attention, here's why I'm a Romney guy, one more time...

Although he has a propensity to pander, and double speak, a skill I detest, but acknowledge is paramount in any POTUS in researching Mitt Romney the man, I found this...because its not about the words they say, its about what they DO!

I found a man who has pledged to forego his salary as President of the United States and who refused the same as Mass’s. Governor. Imagine, the president as a true public servant…..have we ever had a president do this before? I find it supremely refreshing.

I found a man who recently spent a free Saturday morning in October helping San Diego fire victims, without so much as a word to the press? Chopping down trees and cleaning up “thy neighbor’s” property. He didn't know the guy, just some friend of his son, and if Romney could buy anything, why wouldnt he buy the grunt labor in this case? The guy is a doer! Sleeves rolled up and ready to rumble.

I find a man who once shut down his private business, and paid his staff to search for the missing daughter of one of his employees? No questions or expectations, just “let’s go find her”! No one was watching and no one was listening. What does this say about the man?

I found a man who has been loyal, faithful and true to his one wife and love for 38 years. Is this fact lost on our 21st century, live for the moment world? Some say he can't be trusted because of his double speak and flip flops, but what does it tell us about his inner most core, to have been so devoted and perfectly faithful in this most sacred of all relationships.

I found a man who donated thousands of hours per year to his church congregation over many years…no compensation….no salary…no personnel donations accepted? You may not like the doctrine or dogma of Mormonism, but what does it say about any person’s character, commitment and integrity to give so much of oneself to one’s faith, with no expectation of material gain in return?

Finally, I find a candidate who routinely turns organization’s fiscal mismanagement into economic victory for the company and its employees and interests. And far more importantly, there is no one suggesting that he ever broke any laws or violated ethics in doing so! No Blackwater, no Whitewater, no Halliburton.

So, I am left to conclude, given that I can trust no one’s words that it is only actions I can measure, and behaviors I can assess. From this standpoint, my choice for president is so easy.

McCain's lack of Character

A little research will show that the straight talker has at least one major achilles heal when it comes to "telling it like it is".  I found it interesting, and I'll leave most of the conjecture to you....

Senator McCain, while serving actively in the military, was well known to have slept with subordinate women Naval staffers. Now, I know that the military has its reputations and that there are "cultural" norms in every institution, but there are certain patterns of behavior which should not be overlooked, and having multiple sexual relationships with subordinates tells us something about this supposed straight talking senator.

Is this the behavior of a straight talker? Every one makes mistakes, but when a person attempts to convince the entire nation that he is someone of extraordinary character, and that he serves his country out of conviction, and that he knows leadership better than his primary opponents, but that he has a well known pattern of violating one of the primary oaths of military officership, I have to think we are dealing with a flawed persona. Heroes don't sleep with junior officers. Heroes keep all their oaths!

You decide.

Oh, and lock the Oval Office and warn the interns!
