A little research will show that the straight talker has at least one major achilles heal when it comes to "telling it like it is". I found it interesting, and I'll leave most of the conjecture to you....
Senator McCain, while serving actively in the military, was well known to have slept with subordinate women Naval staffers. Now, I know that the military has its reputations and that there are "cultural" norms in every institution, but there are certain patterns of behavior which should not be overlooked, and having multiple sexual relationships with subordinates tells us something about this supposed straight talking senator.

extraordinary character, and that he serves his country out of conviction, and that he knows leadership better than his primary opponents, but that he has a well known pattern of violating one of the primary oaths of military officership, I have to think we are dealing with a flawed persona. Heroes don't sleep with junior officers. Heroes
keep all their oaths!
